Fencers conclude 2008 post-season competition

Air Force Academy fencers Nick Stockdale and Daniel Trapani concluded the 2008 post-season at the Summer National Fencing Championships in San Jose, Calif., July 1-8. Stockdale, from Lansdowne, Pa., finished tied for 73rd place among 128 men's individual foil fencers in the junior division. Trapani is a freshman, from Houston, Texas, finished 37th among 114 in the men's epee competitors in Division I.

2004 Olympics

Former Air Force Fencer to Compete in 2008 Olympic Games

Academy graduate Capt. Seth Kelsey will compete on the United States Fencing Team at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, China. Kelsey, who graduated in 2003, was one of the Academy's top fencers in the program. His illustrious Academy career included the men's epee national title in 2003, four All-America selections, and the No. 1-ranking in the country, which he still holds today. Following graduation, Kelsey entered the Air Force World Class Athlete Program and was selected to represent the United States in the 2004 Olympics. He is the only Air Force athlete to compete in back-to-back Olympic Games.

Summer National Fencing Championships

USAF Academy, Colo. - Three Air Force fencers are scheduled to compete in the 2008 Summer National Championships in San Jose, Calif., on July 1-10. Nick Stockdale, a freshman from Lansdowne, Pa., will compete in the Division I men's foil competition, while freshman Daniel Trapani from Houston, Texas, will compete in Division I men's epee.

Four AFA Fencers Named MWC Scholar-Athletes

Four members of the Air Force fencing were named recipients of the Mountain West Conference 2007-08 Scholar-Athlete Award as announced by the league office, June 23, 2008. Freshman Curtis Christensen, sophomore Michael O'Connor and juniors Ainsley Allen and Julie Luce were recipients. [+]

AFA's Peter French named the recipient of the Hal Rothman Sportsmanship Award

The Air Force Academy sophomore Peter French was announced today as the Mountain West Conference Hal Rothman Sportsmanship Award recipient for 2007-08. A native of Austin, Texas, French has competed as a member of the Falcons' fencing team for two years. He routinely portrays the ideals of sportsmanship and competitive respect, and his character was never more evident than during a match at the 2008 Junior Men's Epee World Cup in Basel, Switzerland. AFA's Fencer Elizabeth Enyart named second team Academic All-District

Air Force fencer Eliza Enyart is one of six Academy athletes named to the 2008 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America® University Division At-Large All-District VII Teams as selected by CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America) and released Thursday, May 22. National Fencing Championships

The Air Force Academy had three fencers compete in the 2008 North American Cup "F" Division I National Championships in Portland, Ore., April 25-28. Senior Eliza Enyart, a native of Bend, Ore., finished 39th among 50 women epee fencers. Sophomore Peter French, a sophomore from Austin, Texas, finished 41st among 58 in the men's epee competition. Freshman Nick Stockdale (Landsdowne, Pa.) finished 37th among 43 in the men's foil event. [+]

AFA's Peter French finished 51st in Junior World Championships

Air Force Academy fencer Peter French competed in the 2008 Junior World Championships, April 6-14, in Acireale, Italy. As the No. 2 man on the three-member junior epee team, French finished in 51st place among 130 fencers. The USA team of Jonathan Yergler, French and James Hawrot finished 12th among 31 teams. [+]

AFA Fencer will travel to Italy for 2008 Junior World Championships

USAF Academy, Colo. - Air Force Academy fencer Peter French will travel to Acireale, Italy, to compete in the 2008 Junior World Championships, April 6-14. French earned his spot on the team after winning the men's individual epee gold medal at the Junior World Cup in Basel, Switzerland in January and winning the championship at the 2008 Junior Olympics in February in Charlotte, N.C. The national title earned him the No. 2 spot on the junior world team. [+]
