Five teams competed for individual invites to the NCAA championships, which will be held March 22-25 at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside in Kenosha, Wis. Stanford, California-San Diego, Cal State-Fullerton and the California Institute of Technology joined Air Force in the NCAA regional competition.
Leading the way for the Falcons was C3C (So.) Weston Kelsey (Brush Prairie, Wash.), who captured first place overall in men's epee. Kelsey, the third-ranked fencer in the nation, won handily, earning an automatic invite to the NCAA championships.
On the women's side, two Falcon fencers will be going to the NCAA championships. Elia Burrill (Truckee, Calif.) took third place overall in women's epee, and Jamie Rasmussen (Fort Campbell, Ky.) grabbed second place at women's sabre. Both earned automatic bids the NCAAs.
Jared Parks (Wayne, Pa.) captured third place overall at men's sabre and is a likely candidate to earn an at-large bid the NCAAs.
