Falcons Finish Second Behind Fresno State At Quad Meet

The men and women's track teams ended their Spring Break with second place finishes at Fresno States quadrangular meet Saturday, March 31st.
The Falcon men tallied 213 points to finish nine points behind host Fresno State. Sacramento State was a distant third with 97 points followed by Cal State-Bakersfield with 73. Fresno State won the womens title with 216 points followed by the Falcons (147), Sacramento State (123) and Cal State Bakersfield (54).
The top performer for the men was Marc Fulson who won both hurdle events. Fulson, posted a winning time of 14.44 in the 110-meter high hurdlesthe ninth fastest in school history, and won the 400-meter intermediate hurdles with a time of 53.32the tenth fastest in school history.
Senior Shawn Johnson won the discus (1747") and placed second in the shot put (569.25"). Senior Shane Rogers out-ran teammate Albert Kelly to win the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Rogers posted a time of 9:35.50 while Kelly finished a close second with a time of 9:37.l89. In the 5,000-meter run, Chris Acs posted a hand time of 14:56.6 to win the event.
On the women's side, senior Jamie Flood won the 5,000-meter run by more than 16 seconds with a time of 18:20.8. Jean Taylor finished more than 36 seconds ahead of her nearest competitor to win the 3,000-meter steeplechase. In the high jump, LeNetta Banks took first place with a leap of 56."
