Both the men and women come into this competition with a 2-1 outdoor record. Track coach Ralph Lindeman is hopeful that his teams can come out of the weekend competition with a winning record.
"Any meet that scores is of vital importance to our program," Lindeman said. "Of course, our goal is to improve on our winning record, but the competition is tough. Missouri is one of the better teams in the Big 12 conference and Notre Dame, historically, has had an extremely competitive program."
Last Saturday at the Tom Benich Classic at Northern Colorado, Jocelyn Dooley, a sophomore from Bismark, ND, set a school record in the javelin. Dooley threw the spear 133'3". Lisa Willman, who set it at the Mt Sac Relays in 1990, held the old record of 132'10.
In the men's discus, David Thompson improved his season best throw to 64'10". That ranks as the ninth best throw in school history.
