Women's Gymnastics Take First At USAG Collegiate Prelims

DAVIS, Calif.The Air Force womens gymnastics team placed first in the USA Gymnastics Collegiate Nationals team preliminaries Thursday evening. With a final team score of 192.200, the Falcons soared past the competition with UC Davis taking second (190.625), followed by Texas Womans Univ. (190.175), Seattle Pacific (189.700), Cornell (188.525), Centenary (187.725), UC Santa Barbara (186.625), and Southern Connecticut State (186.525).
The top eight individuals at each event, including ties, are declared
All-Americans and advance to Saturday afternoons event finals.
Individually, the Falcons did extremely well, claiming six
All-Americans. C3C (So.) Kim Broughton tied for first with TWUs Michelle
Hepner on uneven bars (9.750). On balance beam, C2C (Jr.) Bethany Stott took
third (9.775), and C1C (Sr.) Kristi
Delcour C3C Courtney Hamrick tied for seventh (9.650). C2C Jennifer Dougherty
and Delocur tied for sixth on the floor exercise (9.775). Air Force placed three
in the all-around competition with Dougherty taking second (38.375), Delcour
placing sixth (38.100), and Broughton finishing eighth (37.875).
The USAG Collegiate
Nationals continues on Friday with the men's
team
finals and all-around finals at 1 p.m., followed by the women's team
finals
at 7 p.m.
