Falcons Rifle Vs. Kentucky, Wyoming, Alaska-Fairbanks

The Air Force rifle team hosted No. 2 Kentucky and Wyoming Saturday in its first match of the New Year. Kentucky won the match with a 4635 in smalbore .22 and 1544 in air rifle. The Falcons had a 4452 in smallbore and 1497 in air rifle while Wyoming shot a 4432 in smallbore and 1506 in air rifle.
C2C (Jr.) Nicholas Breffitt led Air Force with an 1143 in smallbore and 378 in air rifle. C3C (So.) Jason Waldow shot a personal best this weekend with an 1132 in smallbore.
The Falcons shot with No. 1 Alaska-Fairbanks and Wyoming on Sunday. Alaska dominated both events with a 4674 in smallbore and a 1537 in air rifle. Air Force had a 4466 in smallbore, a slight improvement over Saturday, and a 1498 in air rifle. Wyoming shot a 4492 in smallbore and 1488 in air rifle.
Breffitt led the Falcons again with a new personal record of 1153 in smallbore and 387 in air rifle. Waldow also set a new personal best with an 1140 in smallbore.
Air Force continues its rapid upward climb in preparation for the next meet against Reno, Jan. 19-20.
The team was without scoring leader and team captain C1C (Sr.) Michael Granberry whose father passed away last week. "Our hearts and support go out to Mike and his family in their time of grief," said head coach Capt. Justin Broughton.
