Air Force Academy sophomore Ryan Wiggins, a 5-11, 175-pound forward from Alamo, Calif., was named the College Hockey America offensive player of the week for his performance in a victory over Holy Cross, Oct. 18.
Wiggins posted career-bests of six points and five assists in the Falcons' first win of the season. He helped the Falcons rally from a 4-1 deficit in the third period of Friday's game at Holy Cross as he played a hand in all five third-period goals to boost the Falcons to a 6-4 win. Wiggins assisted on three goals to open the final period and scored the game-winning goal on a power play at 16:39. He assisted on the Falcons' first goal at 2:48 of the first, and tallied an assist on an insurance goal at 17:20 in the third. Wiggins was unable to play Saturday due to a separated shoulder suffered in Friday's game.
The honor was the first of Wiggins' career and the first by a Falcon this season.
Air Force, 1-3 overall this season, hosts Bentley College, Friday-Saturday, Oct. 25-26, at 7:05 p.m. each night at the Cadet Ice Arena.
