Water Polo Falls To No. 1 Cal, No. 16 UOP

No. 17 Air Force lost to the No. 1 ranked Cal Bears, 14-5, Saturday morning at the Spieker Aquatics Complex in Berkeley. The Falcons dropped its first two of three weekend games in Northern California, Oct. 11-12. Air Force also fell to No. 16 University of the Pacific, 12-9, Sunday in Stockton. The Falcons take on Princeton at 1 p.m. Sunday afternoon at UOP. Air Force fell to 9-7 overall and are currently 7-1 in the Western Water Polo Association.
Against Cal, the Falcons were outscored the first three periods, 3-1, 3-2, 6-0, and matched the Bears in the fourth 2-2. Senior Kirk Reimer scored two goals for the Falcons followed by seniors Scott Butler and Micah Peterson and junior Murphey Morgan who each had one.
Butler netted four goals against UOP, followed by Reimer and Morgan with two and senior Eric Baber with one. The Falcons were outscored by the Tigers in the first three periods, 2-1, 4-2, 3-1, but managed to outscore their opponents 5-3 in the fourth to lose to UOP, 12-9. On defense, senior Brandon Shroyer had eight saves in goal. Goalie Rob Low had 14 saves in goal for the Tigers.
