Princeton edged the Falcons water polo team, 7-6, Sunday afternoon in Stockton, Calif., in a match hosted by Univ. of Pacific. Air Force was tied with the Tigers, 3-3, at the half when three Princeton players scored to take the lead and secure the win. The No. 17 Falcons also fell against No. 1 Cal, 14-5, on Saturday and UOP, 12-9, in an earlier Sunday match. Air Force fell to 9-8 overall and is currently 7-1 in the Western Water Polo Association.
The Air Force water polo team enters its mid-season mark in full stride as it prepares to host its annual "East Meets West" Tournament, Oct. 25-26. Air Force posted a 4-0 record during last year's tournament, with wins over UC Santa Cruz (16-7), UC Davis (12-7), George Washington (12-7), and Cal Baptist (8-7) for a perfect weekend. The Falcons are looking for a repeat against this season's opponents with Cal Baptist and George Washington returning. Air Force also welcomes Iona College and Chapman University this year. The Falcons dropped a match earlier this season to Iona, 7-3, at Princeton's North/South Invitational and fell against the Gaels last season at Princeton, 12-10. Air Force is definitely looking for revenge with the home-field advantage. Air Force went 1-0 against Cal Baptist and George Washington in 2002-03.
