COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - BYU and Colorado State are favored to win this year's Mountain West Conference championship in men's and women's swimming and diving, respectively, in a vote by the league's coaches.
BYU collected four first place votes and a total of 16 points to capture the top spot in the men's poll. Air Force notched the other first place vote as it totaled 12 points to capture second place, while UNLV claimed third place with 10 points. Wyoming (seven points) was picked to finish fourth this season, while Utah (five points) was picked fifth.
On the women's side, Colorado State received four first place votes and gathered a score of 46 points to capture the top spot in the poll. BYU collected three first place votes and was predicted to finish second with 44 points. Utah notched the remaining first place nod and claimed the third spot with 36 points, followed by UNLV (33) in fourth and New Mexico (25) in fifth. Wyoming claimed sixth place with 19 points, while San Diego State (12) and Air Force (9) rounded out the poll finishing seventh and eighth, respectively.
