Falcon Women's Swimming Falls To Utah, 163-117

USAF Academy, Colo. - The Utah women's swimming team clinched a share of the Mountain West Conference title as they defeated Air Force, 168-117, in a MWC dual meet, on Saturday, Jan. 24, at the Cadet Gymnasium's Natatorium. The win drops the Falcons to 8-5 overall and 1-5 in conference meets.
Utah improves to a perfect 6-0 mark in conference action, as they took first place in 12 of the 16 events.
Leading the way for the Falcons was senior Carley Baxter and freshman Lauren Bursey, who both won two events apiece. Baxter won the 50 freestyle with a time of 24.28 and the 100 butterfly with a 58.64 mark. Bursey, who was the lone competitor in both diving events, scored 191.55 points in the 1-meter dive and 208.35 points in the 3-meter dive.
Air Force returns to action the following Saturday, Jan. 31, traveling to Laramie, Wyo., to take on MWC rival Wyoming in a tune-up for the 2004 Mountain West Conference Championships. The dual meet against the Cowgirls begins at noon MST.
