Falcons Prepare for Pre-Nationals Meet

The Air Force cross country team heads to Terre Haute, Ind., for the annual Pre-National Meet at Indiana State University's La Vern Gibson Championship Course at the Wabash Valley Family Sports Center on Saturday, Oct. 16. The day begins at 11 a.m., with the first of three women's 6k races, while the start of the first men's race is slated for 12:10 p.m.

FALCONS SWEEP WEEKLY AWARDS
Sophomore Richard Elmore and junior Lindsay Grose were named MWC Cross Country Athletes of the Week on Oct. 13. It is the first time since joining the Mountain West Conference that Air Force has swept the weekly performance awards. Elmore paced the 13th-ranked Falcons to a first-place showing at the Ft. Hays Invitational on Oct. 9, finishing third with a career-best 8k time of 26:08. With a career-best time of 18:41, Grose took first in the women's 5k race for the second straight season.
"RANK" YOU VERY MUCH
With 253 points, the Air Force men's cross country team is ranked 13th in the Oct. 12 national poll, as determined by the United States Cross Country Coaches Association. The men remained in second place in the Mountain Region rankings, behind Colorado (sixth, nationally). A complete list of the national rankings are available on the third page of this release.
THE LEADERS AND BEST
Junior Brian Dumm is currently ranked third in the Mountain West concerning times in an 8K race. His time of 23:51 at the Notre Dame Invitational leads a trio of Falcons - Mark Walter (fourth) and Abe Wengel (fifth) - who are ranked in the conference's top-five. On the women's side, Kelly Robinson recorded the seventh-best time in a 6K race, by clocking a 23:14 at the Woody Greeno Invitational. Elizabeth Catherwood's time of 23:22 (also from the WGI) is ranked eighth. Margaret Frash has the fifth-best 5K time from her 18:08 at the Notre Dame Invitational.
