Falcon Women Currently Seventh At MWC Swimming & Diving Championships

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - The Air Force women's swimming and diving team is currently in seventh place with 50 points at the Mountain West Conference Swimming & Diving Championships at Oklahoma City Community College. Leading the way is four-time defending confernce champion BYU with 108 points. The Falcons men's swimming and diving team is currently in fourth place.
Utah trails the Cougars in men's action with 109 points, followed by Wyoming (99), Air Force (85) and UNLV (70). The Rams hold the No. 2 spot in the women's events with 99 points, followed by New Mexico (96), Wyoming (89), UNLV (77), Utah (62), Air Force (50) and San Diego State (46).
Freshman Lauren Nicole Bursey finished 15th for the Falcons in the 1-meter diving with a prelim score of 195.85 points. In the two relay events, Air Force took sixth in the 200 yard medley relay and eighth in the 800 freestyle relay. The group of Lindsey Kirchhoff, Carly Omizo, Sara Crowell and Carly Baxter swam for a time of 1:46.19 in the 200 medley relay. Baxter, Jaymie VanKooten, Lara Styles and Lauren White raced to a time of 7:39.02 in the 800 free relay.
Day two events begin Thursday, Feb. 19, with preliminary events at 10 a.m. CST and finals competition at 6 p.m. The MWC Swimming & Diving Championships conclude Saturday, Feb. 21, following the 6 p.m. finals events and the announcement of the individual and team awards.
