Air Force defeats Northern Arizona, 5-2

Thanks to victories at five of the six singles positions, the Air Force men's tennis team posted a 5-2 victory over Northern Arizona Friday at the Academy. With the win, Air Force improves to 11-8 this season.
NAU won two of the three doubles matches to take the first point of the team match. He Lumberjacks' No. 1 team of Jamie Maxwell and Jonas Jeggers beat AFA's Shannon Buck and Tyler McClung, 8-6. At No. 2 doubles, Thibault Schram and Lew DeLeon gave NAU the doubles point with an 8-5 victory over Trevor Johnson and Sky Jensen. Air Force's No. 3 team of Chris Dong and Justin Lau defeated NAU's Brian Grooms and Ronson Taylor, 8-2.
In singles action, Buck improved to 25-4 overall and 17-2 at the No. 1 position with a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Thibault, while Johnson followed suit with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Jeggers. McClung defeated Maxwell, 6-4, 6-4, at the No. 3 position, while Lau (No. 5) and Jensen (No. 6) also won in straight sets over Taylor and Grooms, respectively.
DeLeon defeated Dong at the No. 4 spot in the only three-setter of the day, 6-1, 2-6, 6-4, for NAU's lone singles victory.
Air Force plays its final home match of the 2004 season this Sunday, April 4 against the University of Montana. The match begins at 9 a.m.
