Abe Wengel Named MWC Runner of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Air Force men's cross country senior Abe Wengel (Menomonie, Wis.) was named the Mountain West Conference men's cross country athlete of the week, the league office announced today (Sept. 22).

Wengel won the individual title in the university division at the Woody Greeno Invitational on Saturday (Sept. 18) in Lincoln, Neb. Finishing the 8k race in a season-best time of 25:25, Wengel led the Falcons to a sweep of the top seven spots and the team championship.

The senior co-captain's winning time of 25:25 is the second-best 8k time of any runner in the conference so far this season.

Wengel shared the honor with Utah's Elise Greenwood-Bahr, who was named the conference's top female athlete of the week.
