Underclassmen Compete at Air Force Open

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Several of the Air Force cross country underclassmen competed in the Air Force Open on Saturday, Oct. 22, at the Monument Valley Park in Colorado Springs. Freshman Matt Williams had the squad's best finish, placing fourth with a time of 27:10.2.
Classmates Dan Fadgen and Scott Balcao also clocked in top-10 finishes, placing 7th and 10th, respectively, with times of 27:39.1 and 27:49.3. Sophomore Kenny Grosselin finished 12th in 28:07.8. Sebastian Ortiz's time of 28:32.0 led a quintet of Falcons that finished 14th through 18th. Sophomore Ian McFarland finished 15th with a time of 28:35.3, while freshman Justin Mason clocked in at 29:08.2 to finish 16th. Classmates Garrett Weaver and Parker Cowles finished 17th and 18th, with respective times of 29:22.0 and 30:21.0.
Up next for the Falcons is the 2005 Mountain West Conference championships, which will be held on Saturday, Oct. 29, in Fort Collins, Colo.
