Men Seventh, Women 10th at NCAA Regional Cross Country Meet

PROVO, Utah -- The Air Force men's and women's cross country teams finished seventh and 10th, respectively, at the 2005 NCAA Mountain Region Championships on Saturday, Nov. 15, in Provo, Utah. Senior Nicole Graham picked up the squad's best finish, clocking a time of 22:07 to finish 20th in the women's 6k race. On the men's side, classmate Jeff Gosselin paced the men with a 22nd-place finish of 31:34 in the 10k event.
Four of the men's five scoring runners finished within the top half of the 102-member race. Senior Nick Wilson finished right on Gosselin's heels, clocking a 25th-place time of 31:35. Classmate Travis Patterson posted a time of 32:13 to finish 38th, while sophomore Josh Van Wyngaarden picked up a 49th-place time of 32:36.
Freshman Sean Houseworth, the Falcons final scorer, clocked in at 33:00 to finish 61st. Also running for Air Force was junior Richard Elmore, who finished 67th with a time of 33:12 and senior Anthony D'Amato, who clocked in at 33:31 to finish 73rd.
Behind Graham's 20th-place finish in the women's race, two other placed among the top-50 of the 114-competitor race. Junior Margaret Frash clocked in at 22:56 to finished 43rd, while senior Andrea Pinchak crossed the line in 23:04 to place 47th.
Sophomore Kelly Robinson and freshman Danielle Pozun picked up respective times of 24:07 (85th) and 24:25 (89th) to round out the Air Force scorers. Sophomore Kate Papenberg (96th-24:48) and freshman Jamie Illig (105th-25:07) also competed for the Falcons, although their scores didn't count in the overall team standings.
