Falcons Split For a Pair of Meets

After a week off from competition, the Air Force cross country team splits up for a pair of contests on Saturday, Oct. 1. Some of the Falcons will travel to Salem, Ore., for the Charles Bowles Invitational (also known as the Willamette Invitational), while the rest of the squad will head up the road to Boulder, Colo., and the annual Rocky Mountain Shootout. The Charles Bowles Invitational will be held at the McCulloch Stadium and Bush Park on the campus of Willamette University, while the Rocky Mountain Shootout will run at the Buffalo Ranch on Colorado's south campus.
GRAHAM LEADS FALCONS IN LINCOLN
Nicole Graham crossed the finish line second in the university division at the annual Woody Greeno Invitational on Sept. 17. Her time (22:06) is a season-best and was the seventh-best of the 277 athletes that ran in the race (open and collegiate). Graham guided the Falcons to a third-place overall finish in the nine-team university division.
SENIOR MEN GUIDE AIR FORCE TO WIN
With four seniors finishing within the top 10, the Air Force men won the Woody Greeno Invitational on Sept. 17. Nick Wilson led the way, taking a fifth-place time of 25:19. Jeff Gosselin was right on his heels, with a sixth-place time of 25:20. Mark Walter clocked a 25:31 to take seventh, while Travis Patterson crossed the line in 25:34 to finish ninth.
GRAHAM NAMED MWC RUNNER OF THE WEEK
Nicole Graham was named the MWC Women's Runner of the Week on Sept. 21. The award is the first of Graham's career. It is also the second time during the three weeks of the cross country season that a member of the Air Force program has earned the weekly honor.
NICK WILSON WINS IN WYOMING
In a time of 22:12.34, Air Force senior Nick Wilson won the Wyoming Invitational on Friday, Sept. 2, in Laramie, Wyo. One of four Falcons to finish within the top-10, Wilson led the Falcons to a second-place team finish in the season-opening meet.
SENIORS LEAD FALCONS TO 2ND-PLACE
A quartet of seniors claimed top-10 marks for the Falcons at the Wyoming Invitational. Behind Nick Wilson's winning time of 22:12.34, Jeff Gosselin claimed sixth with a time of 22:22.34. Mark Walter and Matt Hellier finished ninth and 10th, respectively, behind times of 22:36.64 and 22:38.44.
WOMEN BEGIN STRONG IN LARAMIE
Nicole Graham placed fourth with a time of 15:12.40. Andrea Pinchak (15:50.20) placed 13th in 15:50.20, while Kelly Robinson took 23rd with a time of 16:23.60. Margaret Frash also collected a top-30 finish in the field of 68, as she crossed the line in 16:31.70 to finish 26th.
