Air Force Concludes Run at Pre-NCAA Meet

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - The Air Force cross country team wrapped up competition at the Pre-NCAA Meet in Terre Haute, Ind., on Saturday, Oct. 14. The men finished 32nd in the "Blue" race, while the women placed 37th in the "White" event.

Finishing within the top half of the 241-competitor race, senior Richard Elmore led the Falcons with a 97th-place finish, clocking a time of 24:53 on the 8k course. Junior Josh Van Wyngaarden placed 131st with a time of 25:04, while sophomore Matt Williams clocked 25:14 to finish 152nd. Classmate Sean Houseworth and junior Ian McFarland rounded out the Air Force scorers, as Houseworth crossed the finish line in 25:20 (166th) and McFarland recorded a time of 25:25 (176th).

On the women's side, junior Kelly Robinson posted the top time for Air Force, clocking 22:33 to finish 184th. Freshman Brittany Morreale finished just two places behind Robinson, while recording the same time of 22:33. Senior Margaret Frash placed 214th with a time of 22:56, while freshman Allison Romanko clocked in at 22:58 to place 216th. Junior Kate Papenberg rounded out the Air Force scoring runners, clocking 23:53 to finish 244th.

While some members of the team prepare for the MWC Championships (Oct. 28), the rest of the Falcons will host the 2006 Air Force Open next Saturday (Oct. 21). The meet, which will be held at North Monument Valley Park in Colorado Springs, is slated to begin at 10 a.m.
