Falcons host Calgary, Oct. 2, in exhibition game

The Air Force hockey team kicks off the 2006-07 season with an intrasquad scrimmage and an exhibition game at the Cadet Ice Arena.
The annual Falcon Blue-Silver game is Sunday, Oct. 1, at 4 p.m. at the Cadet Ice Arena. On Monday, Oct. 2, the Falcons host the University of Calgary in an exhibition game at 7:05 p.m. Both games are open to the public and admission will not be charged.
Air Force's first regular-season game is Friday, Oct. 6, at 7:05 p.m. against 15th-ranked Colorado College at the Cadet Ice Arena. The Falcons conclude the first week of the season by hosting Alabama-Huntsville, Sunday, Oct. 8, at 5:05 p.m.
In its inaugural season in the Atlantic Hockey Association, the Falcons were picked to finish fifth in the league's preseason coaches' poll. Mercyhurst was tabbed as the top team by taking 96 points and seven of the 10 first place votes. Sacred Heart was picked second with 88 points and two first-place tallies. Holy Cross, the defending league champion who defeated the Minnesota Gophers at the NCAA Tournament last season, was picked third with 83 points and the final first-place vote while UConn was picked fourth.
Air Force and Bentley tied for fifth in the poll with 51 points each followed by Canisius (45 points), Rochester (RIT) Institute of Technology (36), Army (32) and American International (AIC) (13).
The Falcons open conference play on Oct. 21-21 as Bentley comes to the Cadet Ice Arena for a two-game series.
