ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- Four members of the Air Force men's cross country team earned all-conference honors, as the Falcons wrapped up competition at the 2007 Mountain West Conference Championships in Albuquerque, N.M., on Saturday, Oct. 27. Overall, the men placed third - just one point behind runner-up New Mexico - while the women's team finished sixth.
Junior Matt Williams and senior Ian McFarland claimed first-team honors, while senior Josh Van Wyngaarden and junior Joe Curran accounted for second-team accolades. The four all-conference athletes are the most for an Air Force team since four were collected during the 2004 season
Four of the five scoring runners finished within the top 12, including three top-10 finishes. Williams finished in 24:57, placing fourth overall for the second all-conference selection in as many years. McFarland posted a sixth-place time of 25:02 to earn his first all-conference accolade.
Clocking a time of 25:22, van Wyngaarden finished 10th, while Curran's time of 25:24 was 12th. It is the first all-conference honors for either Air Force runner.
