Air Force Heads to Fort Hays Invitational

The Air Force cross country team will travel to Hays, Kan., for the annual Fort Hays Tiger Open on Saturday, Oct. 6. The race will take place on the FHSU Cross Country Course at the Gross Memorial Coliseum. The women's 5000-meter run will take place at 10 a.m., while the men's 8000-meter event will start at 10:40 a.m.

AIR FORCE YOUNGSTERS SHINE IN BOULDER
All five of the men's scoring runners finished within the top-17, as the "B" team wrapped up competition at the Rocky Mountain Shootout. Following sophomore Arthur Grijalva's 13th-place (28:00) finish, while classmate Ryan Workman clocked a time of 28:17 to finish 14th and fellow sophomore Andy Schweitzer finished 15th in a time of 28:25. Sophomore John Oliphint crossed the finish line in 28:31 to take 16th, while freshman Justin Tyner clocked 28:44 to take 17th.
ROMANKO PACES YOUND SQUAD AT SHOOTOUT
Highlighted by sophomore Ally Romanko Romanko's 16th-place finish, the women's team also accounted for four top-25 finishes at the Rocky Mountain Shootout, while all five scoring runners finished within the top 30. Freshman Rebecca Bodtke made her collegiate debut with a 23rd-place time of 25:25, while classmates Jessie Stimpson and Whitney Beck finished 24th and 25th, respectively with close 26:32 and 26:33 times. Sophomore Sara Juback rounded out the field with a 26th-place time of 27:35 in her season debut.
ON THE HORIZON
The cross country team heads to Terre Haute, Ind., on Saturday, Oct. 13, for the annual Pre-Nationals Meet, before closing out the regular season hosting the Air Force Open on Oct. 20.
MEN WIN SECOND STRAIGHT MEET
Backed by a mere 50 points, Air Force won the team title at the Aztec Invitational on Sept. 15, in San Diego, Calif. All five of the Falcons' scoring runners finished within the top 15 and Air Force easily rolled to its second team title of the season. Junior Sean Houseworth tallied a time of 25:49 to place seventh of 110 total runners, while classmate Joe Curran took eighth in 25:55. Fellow junior Matt Williams rounded out the top-10 with a time of 25:57 (10th).
MORREALE LEADS WOMEN IN SAN DIEGO
Air Force picked up a 10th-place team finish at the women's Aztec Invitational. Sophomore Brittany Morreale timed out at 18:47 to place 24th, while classmate Ally Romanko finished 54th with a time of 19:36. Senior Kelly Robinson made her season debut with a time of 19:30 to finished 58th, while freshman Katherine Anderson finished on her heels in 19:39 (59th). Sophomore Katie Anderson clocked a time of 20:03 to round out the scoring runners with a 76th-place finish.
