Air Force Beats Niagara and Butler

The Air Force men's tennis team improved its record to 10-7 this season with a pair of victories Wednesday at the Academy. The Falcons downed Niagara, 7-0, and Butler, 5-1.
Air Force handily defeated Niagara in the morning match, winning two of three doubles matches and all six singles contests, five of them in straight sets. Senior Robby Alexander led the way, pairing with fellow senior Ryan White to win the No. 1 doubles match, 8-5, over Justin McCOnkey and Marc Dickinson. Alexander then swept through Walter Garcia at the No. 1 singles spot, 6-3, 6-4.
Freshmen Brett Rodgers and Mike Youn paired to win the No. 2 doubles match, 8-5, over Garcia and Roman Silin, then each won his singles match at No. 2 and 3, respectively.
Freshman Austin Francis won the most exciting singles match for Air Force, defeating Dickinson, 7-6, 2-6, 10-8 at No. 6.
In the afternoon match, Air Force won at No. 2 and 3 doubles, with senior Keith Cronican and freshman James Tomlin taking the No. 3 match, 8-4, over Chris Peric and Sam Brown.
The Falcons won four of the five singles matches that finished. Alexander defeated James Low, 6-1, 6-4 at the top spot, while Youn (No. 3), White (No. 5) and Francis (No. 6) each won his singles match.
The Falcons return to action on Monday, March 19 when they host Rhode Island at 1 p.m.
