Air Force Finishes 19th At Cowboy Classic

Scottsdale, Ariz. - Firing a 292 on the final day of competition, the Air Force golf team took 19th place at the Wyoming Cowboy Classic, held at the par-70, 7,133-yard Talking Stick North Course. UC Davis captured the team title with an even-par 840, led by individual medalist Louie Bishop, who finished at 205 (-5).
The Falcons moved up in the team standings following Tuesday's round, finishing the tournament with a score of 884 (+44). Leading the way for Air Force was sophomore Shaun O'Bryant (Colorado Springs, Colo.), who shot a 68 in the final round to finish tied for 36th at 216 (+6). Meanwhile, coming in just two strokes behind to tie for 46th place was senior Tyler Goulding (Tracy, Calif.). Junior Bob Whitney (La Quinta, Calif.) also turned in his best performance of the tournament on Tuesday, shooting a 73 in the final round to finish at 226.
Rounding out the group for Air Force were sophomore Andrew Gibson (San Ramon, Calif.), coming in at 228, and junior Jared Freeman (Brazil, Ind.), finishing at 230. Competing as an individual was junior Matt Tanis (Asbury, N.J.), who shot a 75 in the final round to finish at 235.
The Falcons have one final tuneup before the 2007 MWC Championship, heading to the PING Golf Cougar Classic, hosted by BYU, April 20-21.
