The Air Force men's tennis team fell to 1-2 this season with a 7-0 loss to the University of Denver Friday night at the Meadow Creek Tennis Club. It was the first match of the spring season for Denver, which is ranked 66th in the country.
DU jumped out to a 1-0 lead by sweeping the three doubles matches, including an 8-3 victory at the No. 1 spot by Adam Holmstrom and Andrew Landwerlern over Falcon sophomore Brett Rodgers and freshman Taylor Soster.
Holmstrom made it 2-0 for DU by defeating Rodgers, 6-1, 6-4 at the No. 1 singles positions. DU won the Nos. 2-4 and 6 matches in straight sets. AFA freshman Johnny Buckingham posted the only set win for the Falcons before falling to Ravjot Dhatt at the No. 5 spot, 6-7, 6-4, 10-5.
The Falcons are idle for a couple of weeks until hosting Metro State and Colorado College on Saturday Feb. 9 at the Academy.
