Falcons fall to Ole Miss and UTEP in rifle

USAF Academy, Colo. - The Air Force Academy rifle team fell to the Ole Miss and UTEP rifle teams on Saturday. In the match against Ole Miss and UTEP on October 25 in El Paso, Texas, the Falcons lost the match with a total of 4532 points. Ole Miss won the match with an aggregate score of 4569. UTEP came in second with a score of 4556. The Falcons scored 2308 points in air rifle and 2224 points in smallbore. The Falcons' highest scorer was Tom Chandler with an aggregate score of 1145. Chandler shot a 564 in smallbore and 581 in air rifle. The Falcons' next highest shooter was Mike Seery with a total of 1141 points (564 smallbore, 577 in air rifle).
The Falcons' smallbore shooters whose scores accounted for the team total of 2224 points included, Brian Jarrell with 539 points and Chandler's 564. Seery added 564 points, a season-high score, while Nick Krieger added 557 points.
In air rifle, the team's 2308 points came from Jarrell who scored 567 points and Chandler's 581 points. Kyle Phillips scored a season-high of 583, while Seery added 577 points.
On Saturday, Nov. 1, the Air Force rifle team will host the All Services Academies meet at the USAFA Cadet Gymnasium Rifle Range.
