AFA Fencers competed in Duke Invite

The Air Force Academy fencing team competed in Durham, N.C. on Feb. 8-9 in the Duke University Invitational. The men's team finished 2-3, while the women were 0-5. AFA's top fencers were the men's epee team of freshmen Peter French (12-3), Daniel Trapani (14-1) and senior Fred Meyer (10-5). In women's epee, senior Eliza Enyart went 10-8.
Last week, the fencing team traveled to Boston to compete in the Brandeis Invitational, Feb. 2. Competing against Brandeis, NYU, Haverford, Tufts and Boston College, the Air Force men finished 2-3, while the women were 3-3.
Overall, the Falcons are now 7-8 (men) and 5-11 (women). Feb. 15-18, several Academy fencers will compete in the Junior Olympic Championships in Charlotte, N.C. The 2008 NCAA Western Regional Championships are scheduled for March 1-2.
