Falcons Drop Close One to Idaho, 4-3

The Air Force men's tennis team dropped a tough 4-3 decision to the University of Idaho Saturday at the Academy. The Falcons, who have lost three straight matches, fell to 5-5 this season.
The Vandals jumped out to an early 1-0 lead by sweeping the three doubles matches. They won the Nos. 1 and 3 matches, 8-5, and the No. 2 match, 8-1.
In singles, Air Force sophomore Brett Rodgers won the No. 1 match, 6-3, 7-5, over Stanislav Glukhov. Freshman Taylor Soster won an exciting, three-set match at No. 4, 1-6, 6-4, 6-3 over Andrew Dobbs, while freshman Johnny Buckingham defeated Hugh McDonald, 6-4, 6-4, at the No. 5 spot.
Idaho clinched the match by winning the other three singles matches. Timothy Huynh downed Falcon sophomore Austin Francis, 6-3, 6-3, at No. 2, while Robert Chalkley beat sophomore James Tomlin, 6-3, 6-1 at No. 3. Paulo Miranda sealed the deal for the Vandals with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Falcon senior Greg Ferry at No. 6.
Air Force is back in action on Sunday, Feb. 24 against Idaho State beginning at 12 p.m.
