Parmenter Competes on Day Two of U.S. Olympic Trials

Former Air Force swimmer Paul Parmenter took part in the preliminaries of the men's 100 backstroke at the 2008 U.S. Olympic Trials being held Monday in Omaha, Neb.
Parmenter, a 2007 graduate and current member of the Air Force World Class Athlete Program (WCAP), led the way through most of his heat before touching the wall in a time of 57.13. With his new personal-best mark in the event, Parmenter finished 45th in the field of 81.
The top 16 competitors in the 100 back will move on to this evening's semi-finals, while the top eight finishers from tonight's heats advancing to tomorrow night's finals.
Parmenter and fellow WCAP performer Chris Knaute will be back in action on Thursday, July 3, when they compete in the preliminaries of the men's 200 IM. Meanwhile, current Falcons Bryan Avery and Benjamin Gunn, along with Parmenter, swim on Friday, July 4, in the prelims of the men's 100 butterfly.
