Falcons Shut Out by DU, 7-0

The Air Force men's tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision to in-state rival University of Denver Sunday at the Academy. The Falcons put up a good fight but lost every match in straight sets to fall to 0-4 this season.
DU took the doubles point with an 8-6 victory at each doubles position. Every match was tied at 6-all before the Pioneers took control at each spot.
The Pioneers took every singles match in two sets, led by Martin Zimmerman defeating Air Force junior Austin Francis at the top spot, 6-3, 6-4. The best match of the day was at the No. 2 position, where David Simson edged freshman Cody Hall, 7-6, 7-6. Simson won the first set tiebreaker, 12-10, and the second set breaker, 7-4. The match lasted approximately 2 hours and 20 minutes.
DU did not lose more than five games at the Nos. 3 through 5 positions, and at No. 6, Rav Dhatt defeated sophomore Johnny Buckingham, 7-6, 6-2.
The Falcons host UMKC on Saturday, Jan. 31 at 10 a.m.
