Falcons Travel To Navy
The Air Force women's basketball team hosts Bradley this Saturday, Dec. 19. Live internet radio and stats will be available for the game, which tips off at 2 p.m. in Clune Arena.
2009-10 Falcons
Air Force returns six letterwinners and three starters from last years team. Junior guard Raimee Beck is the Falcons' top returning scorer, averaging 12.9 points per game as a sophomore. Junior center Liz Dunsworth and sophomore point guard Anna Gault also started last year as juniors. Air Force welcomes nine freshmen to the team, the largest freshman class in school history.
Last Outing
Air Force dropped a 62-45 contest at home to Bradley on Dec. 19. Freshman Dymond James led the Falcons with career-high's of 10 points and seven rebounds.
Scouting Air Force
Air Force is 2-8 on the season. Junior guard Raimee Beck leads the team offensively, scoring 15.0 points per game to go with 7.8 rebounds per game. Sophomore guard Anna Gault ranks third in the confernce, averaging 4.8 assists per game. Air Force is averaging 56.9 points per game and allowing 66.9.
Scouting Navy
Navy is 7-5 on the season after losing to Towson week. Junior center Cassie Consedine leads the team offensively, scoring 13.5 points per game to go with 8.3 rebounds per game. The Mids are averaging 57.3 points per game and allowing 55.8.
Air Force-Navy Coaches With Idaho State Ties
Three Air Force coaches, including head coach Ardie McInelly and Navy head coach Stephanie Pemper have ties to Idaho State University. McInelly was the head coach at Idaho State, located in Pocatello, Idaho, for five seasons, from 1996-2001. Pemper is a graduate of Idaho State (1992), as are Air Force assistant coaches Holly Togiai (`99 grad.) and Cassie Bro (`06 grad.). Pemper was inducted into the Idaho State Hall of Fame in 2003 and Togiai in 2008.

- Navy junior guard Angela Myers has a sister, Ashley, who is a senior at the Air Force Academy. Ashley was a two-year letterwinner for the Air Force women's team from 2006-08. The Myers sisters are natives of San Antonio, Texas, and attended Taft High School.
Last Meeting vs. Navy
Sophomore Raimee Beck's three-point basket with 23 seconds left in the game rallied Air Force to a thrilling 65-62 win over Navy in women's basketball action Saturday afternoon at Clune Arena. The Falcons rallied back from a 13-point deficit. Trailing 53-40 with 10:13 left to play in regulation, Air Force came back by outscoring Navy 25-9 over the remainder of the game. Beck and senior Kim Kreke led Air Force with 18 points apiece and senior Brooke Cultra added 12 points. Navy was led by Cassie Consedine, who notched a double-double with a team-high 16 points and 12 rebounds. Angela Myers also recorded a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. It was a wild finish for the Falcons and Midshipmen, who battled back and forth in the final three minutes of play. Air Force took its first lead of the second half, 59-58, at the 2:26 mark when Beck hit a three. Navy went back ahead with a pair of free throws by Myers. After a free throw by Kathleen Schjodt tied the game back up at 60-60, Cultra gave the Falcons the lead again on a runner from the right sideline to make it a 62-60 game. Navy came right back as Consedine put in a bucket off a pass from Whitney Davidson to re-tie the game at 62 with 56 seconds to go. Seconds later, Air Force took the lead for good as Cultra swung the ball across the court to Beck who fired from the left side of the court for the go-ahead basket. Navy had a chance to tie the game, but Davidson's three-point attempt was off and the Falcons picked up the win. Beck went 6-for-15 from the field and 4-of-7 from three-point range. Kreke notched her fifth double-double of the season with 10 rebounds to go with her 18 points. Cultra added six rebounds and four assists. Freshman Anna Gault also played well for the Falcons, with a team-high six assists In the first half Air Force jumped out to an early 8-0 lead, but Navy closed out the half on a 22-5 run to lead 37-30 at the intermission. Air Force actually shot well from the field in the first half, making 54.1 percent from the field, but found themselves trailing. The Falcons ratcheted up their defense in the second half, forcing eight turnovers, while committing just three. Air Force had a season-low nine turnovers on the night.
Beck Leading The Way For Falcons
Junior guard Raimee Beck is off to a strong start so far in 2009-10. Beck had led Air Force in scoring all but twice and had led the team in rebounding nine times. She amongst the MWC top 10 in several categories.
Gault Amongst MWC Leaders In Assists, Steals
Sophomore point guard Anna Gault ranks amongst the MWC top five in assists and steals. Gault is third in assists, averaging 4.8 per game. She is fifth in steals, averaging 2.2 per game. Gault is already 10th all-time (Div. I era) in assists at Air Force.
Her current 4.8 apg puts her on pace for 144 assists in 30 games, which would shatter the Div. I record of 119 set by Latoya Howell in 2002-03.
Same Starting Five In Every Game
Air Force has started the same five players in every game so far in 2009. Senior Kathleen Schjodt, juniors Raimee Beck and Liz Dunsworth, sophomore Anna Gault and freshman Kelsey Berger have started every game for the Falcons.
Team Captains
Senior Kathleen Schjodt and junior Raimee Beck have been named team co-captains for the 2009-10 season. Schjodt is a three-year letterwinner at forward. Beck is a two-year letterwinner and returning starter at guard.
Six Letterwinners and Three Starters Return
Six letterwinners and three starters return for the Falcons. Juniors Raimee Beck and Liz Dunsworth and sophomore Anna Gault are Air Forces returning starters. Senior Kathleen Schjodt, junior Candice Chase and sophomore Jamela Satterfield round out the other returners. In addition, sophomore Kira Gonzalez, who did not play in any game as a freshman, also returns.
