USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Sophomore Nash Mills was named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Gymnast of the Week, the league office announced this evening (Feb. 3). It is the first such honor of Mills' career and the first for the Falcons this season.
The sophomore from Coto De Caza, Calif. was an important part of the Falcons' victory over service academy rival Army on Saturday afternoon. Mills won the parallel bars and all-around with career-best marks. Mills tallied a 13.950 on the parallel bars, while taking first in the combined events with a score of 81.350. He also claimed second-place finish on the high bar, while finishing within the top five on the other three events.
Mills, competing in just the second all-around of his young collegiate career, was one of two Air Force gymnasts to claim the league's weekly honor, as senior Abbey Rogers won the weekly award on the women's side.
The Falcons are off until Saturday, Feb. 14, when they travel to Portland, Ore., for the annual All-Academy Championships.
