No. 46 Utah Shuts Out Air Force, 7-0

The Air Force men's tennis team resumed Mountain West Conference action Friday morning with a 7-0 loss to the 46th-ranked Utah Utes in San Diego, Calif. The Utes improved to 16-6 overall and remained perfect with a 4-0 league record, while the Falcons fell to 7-15 and 0-3 in the MWC.
Utah took an early 1-0 lead by sweeping the three doubles matches. The best match was at the No. 2 position, where Utah's duo of Timmy Allen and John Taylor defeated Air Force junior Brett Rodgers and sophomore Taylor Soster, 8-6. Wes Hancock and Phillip Eilers won the No. 1 match, 8-2, over junior Austin Francis and freshman Cody Hall, while Benito Suriano and Stephen Jacobs claimed an 8-1 victory over junior James Tomlin and sophomore Alex Beaussart at the No. 3 spot.
Hancock and Francis put on the best singles match Firday, with Hancock claiming a 7-5, 6-4, win at the No. 1 position. Taylor downed Soster, 6-4, 6-2, at the No. 4 spot, and Utah did not lose more than three games in any of the other four singles matches.
The Falcons continues league action in San Diego on Friday, April 10 against BYU at 9 a.m.
