Dutton and Dudley Lead Falcons at ISU Quad Meet

NORMAL, Ill. - Backed by team-leading finishes from junior Brittany Dutton and sophomore Jenna Dudley, the Air Force women's gymnastics team collected a score of 185.150 to finish third at the Illinois State Quadrangular on Sunday, Jan. 24, in Normal, Ill. Dutton and Dudley each paced the team on a pair of events, as the Falcons accounted for six top-10 finishes.
Illinois State scored a 190.925 to win the four-team meet, edging out Western Michigan (190.525) by .400. Air Force tallied its second-highest score of the season (185.150) to finish third, while Wisconsin-La Crosse finished fourth with a score of 183.300.
Dutton recorded the team's best finish of the night, placing third on the vault with a career-best score of 9.775. That score is a personal improvement by .050. Dutton also picked up a fourth-place score of 9.625 on the floor exercise. In addition to marks of 9.250 on the uneven bars and 9.000 on the balance beam, Dutton finished fourth in the all-around with a combined score of 37.550.
Dudley picked up team-leading marks on the two remaining events, while finishing third in the all-around standings. Dudley score a 9.250 to finish ninth on the uneven bars, while garnering a season-best score of 9.575 to place 10th on the balance beam. The sophomore also earned matching scores of 9.600 on the vault (season-best) and floor exercise to score a 38.025 in the all-around.
Air Force also earned a top-10 finish from senior Aftan Boudreaux, who placed 10th on the uneven bars with a score of 9.175.
Air Force opens the home portion of the schedule this week with a pair of home competitions. The Falcons will host Mountain Pacific Sports Federation foe Alaska-Anchorage on Wednesday, Jan. 27, before welcoming fellow conference foe UC-Davis to Cadet West Gym on Jan. 30.
