Falcons Have Solid Showing at Mt SAC Relays

WALNUT, Calif. - Several season- and career-best marks were set, as the Air Force track and field team continued action at the 52nd annual Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif., on Friday, April 16. The Falcons' 1500-meter runners all improved their seasonal times, while several sprinters, hurdlers and field event athletes bettered their marks as well.
From the track, five Falcons clocked season-best times in their respective events.
Freshman Morgan Mosby shaved nine seconds off of her personal-best time in the women's 1500-meter run, crossing the finish line in 4:44.26. In the men's 1500-meter distance, junior Tyler Stanley took four seconds off of his career-best time, and nine seconds off of his previous season best, to finish 36th in a time of 3:51.32. Sophomore Alex Zubey also competed at that distance, finishing in a season-best time of 3:58.51.
Sophomore Bryce Bergman recorded a career-best time of 14.52 to finish eighth in the 110-meter hurdles, while freshman Uzor Udensi posted a personal-best time of 21.88 in the 200-meter dash.
Also from the track, freshman Justin Manchester recorded a time of 54.19 to finish seventh in the 400-meter hurdles, while sophomore Manuel Smith finished 13th in the 400-meter dash with a time of 48.63. In addition, junior Nick White clocked a time of 1:56.15 in the 800-meter run.
From the field, freshman Rob Simmons cleared the pole vault at 16'4¾" to finish as the runner-up in the "B" section of his event, while classmate Chase Cooper and senior Joel Nolan tied for 11th in the "A" section with matching clearances of 15'11". Rounding out the Falcons' pole vaulters was sophomore Kimber Shealy, who finished 10th in the women's "A" section with a height of 11'11¾".
Sophomore Robert Drye finished eighth in the hammer throw, with a season-best toss of 186'0". Classmate James Cole finished 14th in the discus throw (156'11"), while also claiming a 21st-place throw of 47'1½" in the shot put. Fellow sophomores Kyle Schwochow and Sean Herbison also competed in the shot put, finishing 17th (49'4½") and 24th (46'2½"), respectively.
Action is on-going at Mt. SAC, with the final race not scheduled to go until 11:25 p.m. (PST) this evening. In addition, several results have not been posted yet and those will be included in the second release.
A pair of Falcons will conclude competition at the Mt. SAC Relays tomorrow (April 17), while the rest of the squad splits for the Beach Invitational (Cerritos, Calif.) and the Colorado State-Pueblo Invitational (Pueblo, Colo.).
