Falcons Complete One Round at Cowboy Classic

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - With just one round completed, the Air Force golf team sits in 21st place at the Cowboy Classic, hosted by Wyoming at the par-70, 7,133-yard Talking Stick Golf Club-North Course. The Falcons shot a 295 (+15) in the opening round. Meanwhile, the second round was halted due to darkness, with teams having between one and three holes remaining to play.
Freshman Andrew Hoops (Highland, Calif.) led the Air Force contingent after one round, firing an even-par 70, while senior Tom Whitney (La Quinta, Calif.) turned in a score of 71 in the opening round. Peter Guzowski (Sr., Tiffin, Ohio) was next for the Falcons with a 76, followed by Tyler Downing (Fr., Sturgis, Mich.) at 78 and Travis Deckert (So., Wichita, Kan.) at 81.
In addition, two Falcons are competing this week as individuals. Freshman Wes Denny (Cincinnati, Ohio) shot a 76 in round one, while senior Alex Horrell (Scottsdale, Ariz.) posted an 89.
UC Santa Barbara leads in the team standings after one round at 275 (-5), while Nevada's Taylor Coffman sits atop the individual leaderboard with an opening round score of 65 (-5).
The second round will resume tomorrow morning at 7:30, while the final round is slated to begin at 8:30 a.m.
