
Falcon men and women host meets, Oct. 24-25

The Air Force men's and women's swimming and diving teams open the home portion of the 2014-15 schedule with a pair of meets at the Academy's Cadet Natatorium. Both the men's and women's teams host Colorado Mesa and Colorado Mines on Friday, Oct. 24, at 5 p.m. On Saturday, Oct. 25, both teams host Wyoming in a dual meet at 1p.m.
The men's team is 6-4 overall and was a perfect 4-0 last weekend in Grand Forks, N.D., defeating both South Dakota and North Dakota on back-to-back nights. Junior Michael Barnosky won the 100-yard breast stroke with a time of 55.73, the fastest time in the conference this season, on Friday, Oct. 17. He also swam a leg of the 200-yard medley relay that won with a 1:31.13. On Oct. 18, he won both the 200-yard IM (1:55.97) and the 200-yard breast stroke (2:06.77). His 200-yard breast time is the fastest in the conference while his 200-yard IM is the second fastest this season.
Junior Nathaniel Zillweger was named the Western Athletic Conference diver of the week for his performance in the two meets in North Dakota. On Oct. 17, he set a new Academy record and a pool record on one-meter with 345.20 points. He was second on three-meter that day with 268.20 points. On Oct. 28, he won both the one-meter (317.70) and three-meter (307.30).
On the women's side, the Falcons are coming off of a 180-119 loss at New Mexico last weekend. Senior Kim Davis won three events for the second straight week. Sophomore Genevieve Miller won two events and was second in another. Miller won the 1000 freestyle with a time of 10:36.71 and the 500 freestyle (5:06.35). Davis won the 200 free event (1:52.63), the 200 breast stroke (2:21.17) and the 200 IM (2:08.21).
The Falcons next home meet is Saturday, Nov. 8, as both the men's and women's teams host Grand Canyon at 1 p.m. in the Cadet Natatorium.
