
Falcons Fall to Fresno State, 7-0

The Air Force men's tennis team returned to Mountain West action on Sunday, dropping a 7-0 decision to Fresno State at the Spalding G. Wathen Tennis Center in Fresno, Calif. The Falcons fell to 12-8 overall and 0-3 in the MW while Fresno State improved to 10-8 and 2-3 in league play.
The Bulldogs jumped out to a 1-0 lead with wins at the No. 2 and 3 doubles spots. Air Force's No. 1 duo of senior Alex Grubbs and sophomore Jack McCullers won their match, 8-7(4) over John Darmstaedter and Sai Kartik Nakireddi. Grubbs and McCullers improved to 14-4 this year, including a 5-2 mark at the No. 1 spot.
Fresno State then won five of the six singles matches in straight sets. Senior Andy Jackson won the first set against Nakireddi at the No. 1 position before falling 2-6, 6-2, 6-2. Grubbs took Eric Komarti to a tiebreak in the first set but fell 7-6(5), 6-4 at No. 4 while sophomore Andrew Parks lost to Alexandros Georgios, 7-6(2), 6-3 at No. 6.
The Falcons play their final two home matches of the season next weekend, beginning on Friday, April 11 against Nevada beginning at 12:30 p.m.
