Falcons drop two at Kap 7 NorCal Tournament

STOCKTON, Calif. - The 19^th-ranked Air Force water polo team dropped a pair of games to Top 15 teams at the Kap 7 NorCal Tournament, Sunday, Sept. 21, in Stockton, Calif. The Falcons fell to 11^th-ranked UC Davis, 11-10, and to 13^th-ranked Pepperdine, 15-7.

UC Davis came from behind to beat Air Force, 11-10, in the consolation semifinals. UC Davis took a 4-2 lead at the end of the first period, but the Falcons battled back to tie the game at 6-6 at the half. Goals by Jantz Johnson and Dominic Vicino in the third quarter gave the Falcons an 8-6 lead. The Aggies scored the next two goals to tie the game at 8-8 after three quarters. After a UC Davis goal, Johnson scored again with 3:02 left to tie the game at 10-10. The Aggies scored the game-winner with 2:44 remaining. Johnson led the Falcons with six goals. Riley Quinlan scored two while Ben Rogers and Dominic Vicino each scored one.

In the final game of the tournament, Pepperdine beat Air Force, 15-7. The Waves raced out to a 4-0 lead in the first quarter and held a 9-3 lead at the half. Pepperdine outscored Air Force, 3-2, in each the third and four quarters for the 15-7 win. Seven different Falcons scored in the game.

Air Force, 5-8 overall, is now off until Friday, Oct. 3, when the Falcons host conference foe UC San Diego, at 7 pm in the Cadet Natatorium.
