Air Force water polo drops two in Santa Clara

U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. - The 13th-ranked Air Force water polo dropped a pair of close games at the annual Rodeo Tournament, Sunday, Oct. 25, in Santa Clara, Calif. The Falcons, 6-14 overall, fell to 19th-ranked Harvard (9-8) and 11th-ranked Brown (10-8).
In the first game of the day, Harvard took a 4-3 lead in the first quarter, but the Falcons tied the game with two in the second quarter. After each team scored a goal in the third quarter, the game was tied at 6-6 entering the fourth. Harvard outscored the Falcons, 3-2, in the fourth quarter for the 9-8 win. Justin Harrison led the Falcons with three goals while Robby Stiefel had two. Stiefel also had three assists and two steals. Caleb Guarino made 10 saves.
In the second game, Air Force outscored Brown, 5-3, in the second quarter and had a 7-5 lead at the half. The Bears held the Falcons to just one goal in the second half. Brown scored two in the third quarter and then outscored the Falcons, 3-1, in the fourth for the 10-8 win. Riley Thomas led the Falcons with three goals. Stiefel led Air Force with two assists and four steals.
Air Force returns home to host Cal Baptist in a Western Water Polo Association game on Saturday, Oct. 31, at 10 a.m. at the Cadet Natatorium.
