Falcons lost close dual to Hawai'i on the island

The Air Force men's and women's teams travelled to Honolulu for a pair of dual meets against the University of Hawai'i, Oct. 30. The men's team won (151-95) while the women's team lost (169-130).

The men opened the meet by winning the 200 medley relay as the team of Devon Davis, Michael Barnosky, Sean Ledford and George Frank posted a time of 1:30.24.

Air Force took the top four spots in the 50 free as Jordan Dahle won (20.73), while Steffen Mount was second (20.94), Frank was third (21.05) and Lars Knutson was fourth (21.15).

The Falcons also took the top four places in the 1000 free as freshman Collin Green won (9:31.14), while Garrett Glaudini was second (9:31.26), Andrew Faciszewski was third (9:37.07) and Derek Brecht was fourth (9:50.94).

Air Force took the top three places in the 100 breast stroke as Barnosky won (54.78), while Kevin Fanter was second (56.63) and Zach Knoche was third (56.86).

Along with winning the 50 free, Dahle also won the 200 free (1:39.45) and the 100 free (44.82). Barnosky also won two events on the day as he also took first in the 200 breast stroke (2:03.11).

Several other Falcons also won individual events as Sean Ledford won the 200 fly (1:49.28), Davis won the 100 back (48.98), Kris Tillery won the 200 back (1:51.05), Kevin Jackson won the 500 free (4:31.70) .

The men closed out the meet by winning the 400 free relay in a time of 3:00.19.

On the women's side, junior Genevieve Miller won three events, the 1000 free (10:17.46), the 200 free (1:51.21) and the 500 free (5:01.48). Sara Menke was second in the 1000 free (10:19.03) and the 500 free (5:02.13).

Several other Falcons won individual events as Jenna Tasic won the 100 fly (2:04.68), Brianna Mount won the 50 free (24.29), Maria Schroeder won the 100 fly (55.47) and Jinan Andrews won the 200 IM (2:08.93).

In men's diving, Nick Piontek won the one-meter while Erich Drollinger was second and A.J. Eckebrecht was third. Nathanael Zillweger was second on the three-meter board with 312.45 points while Eckebrecht was third (309.85).

In women's diving, Jessica Horn placed second on the one-meter board (267.60) and was third with 250.70 points.

"The men were terrific again," head men's coach Rob Clayton said. "We are getting better and better each week. Our juniors and seniors led way. Jordan Dahle won three events and Michael Barnosky won two. Kevin Jackson won the 500 free, in his first healthy outing of the year, and led all the way. It was just a great effort all around. We have two tough meets this weekend. Grand Canyon might be the top team in the conference and Arizona State is swimming really well. It would be great to get a win out of either meet next weekend. We are very excited about where we are right now."

The men's team, 6-0 overall, travels to Grand Canyon University (Nov. 6) and Arizona State (Nov. 7) for a pair of dual meets.

The women's team, 8-4 overall, heads north on I-25 for a dual meet against the University of Denver, Nov. 7, at 1 p.m.
