Falcons finish fifth at Purdue Invitational

The Air Force women's swimming and diving team placed fifth at the Purdue Invitational, Sunday, Nov. 22, in West Layfayette, Ind. Purdue won the meet with 962 points, followed by Notre Dame in second (707), Wyoming in third (466), Florida International in fourth (354), Air Force in fifth (248), Missouri State in sixth (236), Southern Illinois in seventh (182) and the University of San Diego in eighth (152).
Sophomore Maria Schroeder, who broke her own school record in the 100 fly on Saturday, swam a 51.27 in the 100 free, the eighth fastest in school history, to win the "C" final. Jinan Andrews was 12th overall with a time of (51.73) while Genevieve Miller was 13th (51.78).
Miller placed second in the 1650 free win an NCAA "B" time of 16:16.13. Senior Sara Menke was sixth at 16:45.64. Miller was also 10th in the 100 free while Jinan Andrews was 12th. Leah Weber was sixth in the 200 breast stroke with a time of 2:16.73.
In diving, Jessica Horn placed sixth on the platform with 197.65 points.
Air Force will look to send some individuals to the USA Swimming Nationals, Dec. 2-5, in Seattle, Wash. The next team competition is Jan. 3 at the Orange Bowl Classic in Key Largo, Fla.
