The Air Force wrestling team hosts the 2015 U.S. Western Open this Sunday, Feb. 22. Competition, at the East Gym (next to outdoor tennis courts), begins at 10 a.m. Admission is free for the Open and live stats will be available via trackwrestling.com.
Last Time Out...
Air Force wrestling lost a dual to Northern Colorado, 20-19, in Western Wrestling Conference action Wednesday night at Clune Arena. The Falcons lost the 19-19 tie based on criteria to cap their 2014-15 dual slate with a 6-8 overall record.
In the National Rankings...
The Falcons have a pair of wrestlers currently ranked by numerous wrestling publications.
Junior Josh Martinez, a two-time NCAA qualifier and 2013 WWC Freshman of the Year, is currently ranked 11th by Wrestling Report, 12th by Open Mat and W.I.N. Magazine and 14th by InterMat at 125 pounds.
Meanwhile, senior Jesse Stafford, is rated 16th in the nation at 165 pounds by W.I.N. Magazine, 20th Open Mat and 24th by Wrestling Report.
