The Air Force wrestling team heads to Kings Point, N.Y., this Saturday, Feb. 7, for the 21st-annual All-Academy Championships, hosted this year by the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. Live stats will be available at trackwrestling.com.
Last Time Out...
Air Force wrestling went 2-2 in a pair of duals last week to move to 6-6, 0-4 WWC on the season.
On Friday, Jan. 31, the Falcons defeated New Mexico Highlands 25-10 and lost to North Dakota State 28-11. On Sunday, Feb. 1, the Falcons lost to South Dakota State 23-9 before defeating Grand Canyon 38-3.
The Falcons were led by 18th-ranked Jesse Stafford, who went 3-0 in his bouts at 165 pounds.
In the National Rankings...
The Falcons have a pair of wrestlers currently ranked by numerous wrestling publications.
Junior Josh Martinez, a two-time NCAA qualifier and 2013 WWC Freshman of the Year, is currently ranked 13th by Wrestling Report and 14th by Open Mat, InterMat and W.I.N. Magazine at 125 pounds.
Meanwhile, senior Jesse Stafford, is rated 16th in the nation at 165 pounds by W.I.N. Magazine and Open Mat, 18th by InterMat and 20th by Wrestling Report.
