
Falcons roll to 19-10 win over Fresno Pacific

U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. -- Air Force scored the first four goals of the game and rolled to a 19-10 win over Fresno Pacific in a Western Water Polo Association game Saturday, Oct. 29, at the Academy's Cadet Natatorium. Air Force earned its first conference win of the season and improved to 6-14 overall and 1-4 in the league. Fresno Pacific fell to 8-16 overall and 0-6 in the league.
Riley Quinlan, Eric Curia, Ryan Dorris and Garrett Fisk all found the back of the net early in the game to give Air Force a 4-0 lead. After two goals by FPU, the Falcons closed out the first on goals by Luke Andres and Edward Smet for a 6-2 lead at the end of one. The Falcons scored the first three goals of the season as Andres, Bryce Leiter and Ryan Dorris gave the Falcons a 9-2 lead. FPU scored a pair of late goals and Fisk scored on a penalty shot for a 10-4 lead at the half.
The Falcons put the game away in the third quarter, outscoring the Sunbirds, 7-1. Leading 17-5 after three, the Falcons emptied the bench as FPU outscored the Falcons, 5-2, in the final eight minutes. Both of Air Force's goals came from freshman Eric Kawecki, the second and third of his career. Senior goalie Max Benson started the game and made 15 saves in three quarters. Sophomore goalie James Rydjeski played the fourth quarter and made two saves.
Quinlan led the Falcons with four goals while Andres had three. Fisk, Kawecki and Smet all had two. Smet led the team with four assists while Riley Thomas had three. Quinlan and Zach Kamai each had three steals.
Air Force will host its final home game of the season later today with a non-conference game against Chapman at 7:30 pm at the Cadet Natatorium.
