
LMU holds off Falcons, 13-9

U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. - Loyola Marymount jumped out to an early lead and held off Air Force for a 13-9 win in a Western Water Polo Association game on Friday, Oct. 7, in Los Angeles, Calif. Air Force fell to 3-9 overall and 0-2 in the WWPA while LMU improved to 5-7 overall and 2-1 in conference.
LMU scored the first three goals of the game and built an 8-2 lead late in the second quarter. The Lions had a 13-6 lead entering the fourth quarter when the Falcons rallied for three goals, two by Riley Thomas and one by Zach Kamai.
Thomas led the Falcons with four goals and two steals. Max Benson made 11 saves for Air Force. Air Force outshot LMU, 37-33, but LMU was 4-for-5 on man-up advantages.
Air Force will play two games in the Gary Troyer Tournament, Saturday, Oct. 8, in Claremont, Calif. The Falcons face Pomona-Pitzer at 11:30 am and University of Redlands 5:20 pm.
