Falcons placed fourth at Northwestern Invite

U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. -- The Air Force women's swimming and diving team placed fourth at the Northwestern TYR Invitational, Sunday, Nov. 20, in Evanston, Ill. Northwestern won the meet with 1032 points. Michigan State was second (803.5), followed by Grand Canyon (706), Air Force (646.5), Truman State (349.5), Illinois Chicago (347.5) and St. Louis (263).
Three Falcons swam in the finals of the 50 fly as junior Elise Hart won (25.10), freshman Ester Min was fourth (25.45) and Brianna Mount was fifth (25.48).
In the 1650 free, Genevieve Miller placed second with an NCAA "B" cut time of 16:13.14. Miller also posted an NCAA "B" cut in the 500 free on Saturday.
Several other Falcons placed in their respective events. In the 200 breast stroke, freshman Heidi Schellin placed eighth with a time of 2:21.42. Junior Jinan Andrews placed sixth in the 100 IM (58.62).
In the final race of the meet, the 400 free relay, the Falcon team of Lydia Knutson, Jinan Andrews, Brianna Mount and Genevieve Miller was second with a time of 3:25.50
Freshman Lydia Knutson just missed the school record in the prelims of the100 free, posting a 50.24.
In diving, sophomore Isabella Farrell placed third on the platform with 192.50 points. She placed in all three diving events, finishing eighth on both the one-meter and the three-meter. Also on the platform, freshman Eve Fowler placed seventh with 173.25 points.
