
Record-setting day at Mountain West Championships

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The Air Force women's swimming and diving team set more school records and moved up in the team standings on the third day of the Mountain West Championships, Friday, Feb. 17, in College Station, Texas.
In the first event of the day, the Falcons set a new school record in the 400 medley relay, placing sixth in the championships for 48 team points. The team of Emma Strom, Shayle Finnesand, Elise Hart and Lydia Knutson posted a time of 3:40.77. In the first leg, Strom tied the school record in the 100 back stroke (55.10).
Junior Elise Hart made the "A" final in the 100 fly and placed eighth in a time of 54.76.
Senior Genevieve Miller set a new school record in the 200 freestyle, placing third with a time of 1:47.19. She broke her own school record of 1:47.58 set last season.
Freshman Shayle Finnesand placed 11th in the 100 breast stroke in a time of 1:03.25, the second fastest in school history.
In the 100 back stroke, three Falcons qualified for the finals. Junior Elise Hart placed 13th overall in a time of 55.29. Sophomore Emma Strom placed second in the "C" final, 18th overall, with a time of 55.52. Senior Emily D'Amato was 22nd overall (56.05). Hart's time is the second fastest in school history while D'Amato's is sixth.
In the team standings, Air Force moved ahead of Fresno State for ninth place with 334 points. Boise State is in first place while San Diego State is second and Nevada is third.
