Rifle team finishes fourth in conference championships

U.S. Air Force Academy, Colo. - The Air Force rifle team finish in fourth place at the 2017 Patriot Rifle Conference Championships (PRC) at Ohio State in Columbus, Ohio, on Feb.4-5. TCU won the championship title with a 4726, followed by Alaska's 4705, Ohio State's 4691, AFA's 4673, Nevada's 4659, and UTEP's 4591.
In Smallbore on Saturday (Feb. 4), the Falcons had a team score of 2309. Spencer Cap, Alaska's Luke Johnson, and Anna Weilbacher split with 579 points. With more center shots scored, Cap came out ahead of the other two shooters. Ryan Jacobs finished with 577 points, while Logan Ogden had a 574. Nick Learn and Spencer Brandon also shot, finishing with a 587 each.
In Air Rifle on Sunday (Feb 5), the Falcons scored 2364 team points. Ogden had the team-high score with a 595 and finished the match with 1169 total points. Cap finished with a 593 for a final 1172 points. Jacobs scored a 589 in the gun and finished with 1166 points. Learn scored a 587 for a final score of 1155, while Brandon shot a 587 and finished with 1146 total points. Weilbacher scored a 586 and had a final score of 1165.
Falcon Highlights: In Smallbore, Weilbacher scored a 96, 100 in kneeling, she finished off with a 98, 98 prone, and 94, 93 standing. Both Brandon and Cap scored 100 in the air rifle second set, Cap also had a perfect 100 in the fourth set. Ogden topped off his air rifle score with a perfect 100 in his final set.
