Falcons Complete Day Two at ITA Mountain Regional

Air Force men's tennis completed day two action at the ITA Mountain Regional hosted by UNLV, on Tuesday, Oct. 16, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Highlighting the day was the doubles duo of sophomores Jamie Bautista and Paul Hendrix advancing to Wednesday's competition.

The Falcons had a pair of singles players win their opening round before falling in the second rounds. Sophomores Hendrix and Patrick Sklenka earned opening round wins. Hendrix defeated Pedro Fernandez of Denver 7-6, 6-4 and Sklenka defeated Marti Simecek of New Mexico State 6-1, 6-1. Hendrix would drop his second round match to Kris Van Wyk of Weber State 6-3, 6-1 and Sklenka lost to second-seed and nationally-ranked Ricky Hernandez-Tong of New Mexico 6-4, 5-7, 6-2.

Also competing in singles was senior Isaac Perez, who dropped his match to Ben Gajardo of BYU 6-1, 6-3. Perez also dropped his consolation match to Simon Arca Costas of Boise State 7-5, 7-6.

In doubles play, Bautista and Hendrix defeated Thomas Fisher and Lucas Taylor of Northern Arizona 8-6 to advance. The duo of Tadhg Collins and Perez lost to Sean Hill and Jeffrey Hsu of BYU 8-4.

Day three action is Wednesday.
